Bach Flower Essences for the menopause

Bach flower remedies were created by Dr Edward Bach in the 1930s and are a great natural remedy for menopause. If you want support with the difficult feelings associated with this transitional period in your life but don’t know where to turn, consider a blend of flower essences to support your emotions during this time.

Flower remedies are herbal remedies to support women during menopause. They are 100% natural and safe. They’re taken as drops under the tongue (or in a glass of water) four times a day for a few weeks. In this article, we will discuss some of the best Bach flower remedies for menopause, supporting women emotionally during this stage of their lives through holistic medicine. Bach flower essences to help you adapt to change

Walnut

Walnut is to use at times of major life changes where you have a say in the change such as moving house, starting a family or new job.

It is also the essence to support you when you have no say in the matter or a feeling that you have no power such as teething, puberty or menopause or the terminal stages of disease.

Dr Bach called the Walnut, the breaker of spells, the ability to untie you from the bonds that may be holding you back, especially from the past.

Walnut brings you adaptability to change and protection and allows you to move on freely.

Honeysuckle

Honeysuckle is the remedy that allows you to live in the present, allowing you to let go of the past and embrace the now, accepting change and the future with optimism.

As well as being a physical time of change, menopause can be a big emotional shift for some women which amplifies a feeling of getting older and of missed opportunities during their youth. If you’re stuck in the past, dwelling on memories from the past, regret of missed opportunities or feel wistful for the good old days, Honeysuckle may be one flower remedy for you to try, helping you focus on the present and look forward to the future.

Wild Oat

Many women go through a mid-life crisis during menopause and are looking for a new direction in life and purpose. If you’re driven and ambitious but not sure which path to take or trying multiple things without getting much satisfaction from any of them, perhaps give Wild Oat a try.

Wild Oat brings you direction, satisfaction and purpose.

Star of Bethlehem

Star of Bethlehem is the remedy for shock, if the symptoms of menopause have come as an unexpected shock, for whatever reason then this may be the remedy for you.

For some women, menopause can trigger a sense of loss – a loss of fertility and the ending of a phase of life. This may be particularly pronounced if the woman wasn’t able to conceive a child.

Star of Bethlehem can help to process these feelings and bring comfort.

Bach flower essences for mood swings

Scleranthus

If you find that your moods or temperament can change, or you regularly feel indecisive then Scleranthus may be for you.

This is the balancing flower – helping to move from inner conflict to equilibrium. Try this essence if your mood swings and temperament change one way to another and you’re indecisive, restless and can’t order your thoughts.

Scleranthus will help stabilise your mood and thoughts and help you achieve balance. Mood swings can be one of the toughest menopausal symptoms.

Impatiens

Impatiens is probably the most used remedy that I use to make up blends for my clients. Bringing patience, ease and tolerance, a quality that is valuable in the transitional stages of menopause.

Impatiens is for if you’re feeling impatient and irritable, particularly at people you perceive as being too slow. If you feel mentally tense and the need to go, go, go all the time, this may be one to try.

Beech

Beech is the flower remedy for intolerance. Perhaps you’re being overly critical or judgemental and not able to see others’ points of view. It’s your way or the highway!

Beech will help you have tolerance, understanding and compassion.

Holly

This remedy will help if you’re feeling angry at someone and have a real temper. Maybe you’re jealous, spiteful or need revenge? Irrational anger is common with many women during this time as they can find themselves getting angry at things which wouldn't usually make them mad, and the root of the anger may be a mystery.

Holly will help bring inner goodwill, love and acceptance.

Bach flower essences for fatigue and exhaustion

Olive

Are you physically exhausted and drained of all energy? Perhaps you’ve given too much of yourself or you’re recovering from a prolonged illness or period of physical exertion which has left you sapped of all energy.

Olive will bring you zest, vitality and rejuvenation, if you feel completely washed out and have no energy left to give, give Olive a try.

Hornbeam

Are you weary of mind and have trouble getting yourself out of bed every morning (in an emotional, not physical sense.) You feel the burdens of life and fatigue in the mind. You are drained by the monotony of life and need something to pull you back and give you renewed enthusiasm.

Hornbeam is great for the emotional fatigue that often accompanies menopause and brings you resolve, vitality and clarity.
